Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Health Education in Our Community
The Big Bend Rural Health Network (BBRHN) is proud to be a multi-year recipient of the Educational Grant from the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. With this generous support, we’re able to bring critical breast health education to individuals and families across our rural communities. Through this grant—and with the support of key partners like the Florida Department of Health, the Northwest Florida Cancer Control Collaborative, and the University of West Florida’s Northwest Florida Collaborative to Reduce Breast Cancer Disparities—we deliver educational workshops, outreach events, and free resources focused on breast cancer awareness, early detection, and connecting people to care. Together, we’re working to reduce disparities, increase access to life-saving information, and empower our communities with the tools they need to take charge of their health. When people have the knowledge and support, they need, early detection becomes possible—and lives are saved.

For several consecutive years, the Big Bend Rural Health Network (BBRHN) has proudly received an Educational Grant from the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. With this support (or thanks to this support), we have been able to provide breast health education — raising awareness, promoting early detection, and making a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.

Outsmart Cancer: What You Need to Know Now
The Big Bend Area Health Education Center (BBAHEC) is dedicated to enhancing breast cancer awareness and prevention in Florida’s underserved communities. Through its “We Are One” initiative, BBAHEC collaborates with the Big Bend Rural Health Network to offer educational workshops and interactive classes in 14 counties. These programs aim to empower participants with knowledge about breast health, risk factors, and the importance of early detection, ultimately striving to reduce health disparities and promote proactive health behaviors.
