Come join us and learn about oral cancer. “Shedding Light on the Latest Developments in Oropharyngeal Cancer, including HPV Infection will be held February 17, 2011  in Panama City . Recently, much interest and confusion has been generated about the early detection of oral cancer that
clinically mimics many common oral conditions. The course will provide the participants with the latest information on potentially malignant lesions and squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharyngeal region, including changes in disease trends, risk factors, clinical manifestations and management approaches. Emphasis will be placed on the new risk factor, human papillomavirus, including the oral prevalence, disease transmission, clinical presentation, and it’s association with oropharyngeal cancer.  The usefulness of the newest visualization screening devices for assisting in the detection of these lesions will be discussed. Numerous clinical examples will illustrate the pros and cons of these adjunct assessment tools. Briefly, examples of promising future directions in the prevention, early detection and diagnosis of this deadly disease will be highlighted. Join us at the Lively Technical Center Health Professions Department Advisory Board Bi-annual continuing education event,  Evidence-Based guidelines for Cardiovascuar Disease Prevention in Women, featuring Dr. Angela Massey Hill, from the FAMU College of Pharmacy.  This event serves to raise funds for the Lively Technical Center, Health Education Department to to support the health professions students.   This event will be held at Libby’s Cafe at Lively Technical Center, 500 North Appleyard Drive.   The registration fee is $35.00 which includes hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.   This activity is approved for 2 contact hours of continuing education provdied by the Big Bend Area Health Education Center an approved provider for nursing, social work and dental health professionals by the Florida Board of Nursing, the Florida Board of Clinical Social work, Marriage, and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling and the Flroida Board of Dentristy.
